Jacobs prides itself on celebrating other cultures represented by the student bod which needless to say, comprises of students from all over the world – over a hundred countries. This time around, we celebrated the cultures of South Asia during an event called the Colours of South Asia or COSA. The event was organised by the South Asian community on campus to celebrate their and share South Asian culture with the rest of the student bod. The Jacobs South Asian community on campus includes students from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Spanning over two days, the event included kite flying, a colour run and dance performances. Students made their own kites and flew them on campus green. Chicken achari and chicken tandoori were served for the celebrations. Chicken achari is a spicy dish and is made from spices that are also used as pickles. Pineapple Lassi was served as beverage to keep with the theme. Overall, it was an amazing event and what reall made it special was the fact that I celebrated it with my friends that also represent the South Asian community.
